Frequently Asked

A short reference for parents, clinicians, and anyone learning about Parente for the first time.

What is Parente?
Parente is a clinical-grade AI platform for parent-led behavioral interventions, developed by clinical researchers and engineers in partnership with Palo Alto University and Stanford. Parente supports clinicians who deliver evidence-based parent training programs, including Parent Management Training (PMT), Behavioral Parent Training (BPT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and SPACE for childhood anxiety. Parents access the platform between sessions through a mobile app that includes Pat, an AI parenting coach.

Who is Dr. Andrea Abadi?
Dr. Andrea Abadi is the Chief Medical Officer of Parente. She is a child and adolescent psychiatrist and the Director of INECO Infanto Juvenil, a leading child mental health program in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is widely recognized across Latin America for translating evidence-based clinical science into practical guidance for families.

What conditions do the Parente group programs address?
Parente group programs serve parents of children with autism spectrum disorder, disruptive behaviors, ADHD, and anxiety. The four current tracks are TEA y Crianza (autism), Conductas Desafiantes (disruptive behaviors including defiance, frequent tantrums, and aggression), TDAH y Crianza (ADHD), and Ansiedad y Miedos (childhood anxiety and fears). All four programs are led by a credentialed clinician with daily between-session AI support from Pat.

How do Parente group programs work?
Programs run for 4 or 8 weeks. Parents meet weekly in a small group, led live online by a credentialed psychologist or psychiatrist, and use the Parente app every day between sessions. The app includes Pat, an AI parenting coach trained on the same evidence-based protocols the clinician is teaching. The clinician supervises the AI conversations and reviews summaries before each weekly session. Parents have the option to continue using Pat, attending weekly office hours and messaging a clinician through the app after the group program ends.

Is there clinical evidence that Parente works?

Yes. Parente has been evaluated in early peer-reviewed studies. A 2025 feasibility and usability pilot study examined a Parent Management Training program delivered through a hybrid model combining therapists with Pat, Parente’s generative AI parenting coach. Caregivers reported high satisfaction, strong engagement, and a positive therapeutic alliance with Pat. The study also found significant pre- to post-intervention reductions in children’s externalizing and internalizing symptoms, as well as reductions in caregiver depression, anxiety, and stress.

A separate peer-reviewed study, by Rivera-Cepeda and colleagues, was published in JMIR Formative Research in 2026 (DOI: 10.2196/91841). The study examined 88 caregivers from Argentina and Paraguay who completed the 8-week group program. It reported a Net Promoter Score of 76.92 and 95% positive sentiment in caregiver feedback. Caregivers identified four themes they valued most: useful strategies, professional and peer support, positive family changes, and overall satisfaction. Together, these early findings suggest that Parente’s clinician-plus-AI model is feasible, acceptable, and promising.

How do parents sign up for a Parente group program?
Parents can sign up for an upcoming cohort through the Parente cohort registration page at parentehealth.com. New cohorts launch on a rolling basis. The current group programs are delivered in Spanish, with cohorts active across Latin America. Parents in other regions can follow Dr. Andrea Abadi on Instagram (@abadi_infantojuvenil) for free educational content and announcements of new groups, including future English-language cohorts.

How can a clinician partner with Parente to run a group?

Licensed psychologists and psychiatrists who deliver, or want to deliver, evidence-based parent training can apply to partner with Parente. The clinician leads the live group sessions and provides clinical oversight; Parente provides the platform, curriculum scaffolding, and between-session AI support. Parente partners with clinicians delivering programs in both Spanish and English. To learn more, write to clinicians@parentehealth.com.

In what languages and regions is Parente available?

The Parente platform and Pat, the AI parenting coach, support both Spanish and English. Group programs are currently delivered in Spanish, with active cohorts across Latin America. Parente is headquartered in Mountain View, California, partners with clinicians and serves families globally, and is actively expanding its English-language offerings.
